Scream Time is built to work entirely on your device. This policy explains exactly what that means in practice.
Nothing. Scream Time has no user accounts, no analytics, no advertising, and no servers of any kind. We don't know who you are, what apps you've limited, or how you use the app — and we have no way to find out.
To apply your limits, Scream Time uses Apple's own Screen Time (Family Controls) framework. All app usage information is processed and stored on your device by Apple's system frameworks — it never passes through Scream Time's own code in a readable form, and it is never sent anywhere.
Unlocking an app requires screaming into your phone. Your microphone is only ever read live, in the moment, to measure loudness. Audio is never recorded, saved to disk, or transmitted anywhere — not to us, not to anyone. The moment the sound level is measured, it's discarded.
If you allow notifications, Scream Time uses them locally to let you jump back into the app when something locks. This uses Apple's standard notification system and doesn't involve any external service.
Your settings — which apps are limited, your daily time budgets — are stored only in a private container on your own device, shared between the app and its system extensions so your limits can actually be enforced. This data never leaves your device.
Scream Time does not use any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs. If that ever changes — for example, if we add optional subscription features in the future — this policy will be updated first, and the date above will change.
Scream Time is a self-directed tool for managing your own phone use. It is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, of any age, since it doesn't collect information at all.
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted here with a new "Last updated" date.
